OBE Curriculum: Understanding CPL, CPMK, and How to Manage Them in a SIAKAD
Outcome-Based Education builds the curriculum from graduate outcomes. Understand CPL, CPMK, and how they link to courses.
What is OBE?
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is an approach that builds the curriculum starting from the outcomes expected of graduates, rather than from a list of courses. From there, courses, learning methods, and assessments are designed to achieve those outcomes.
Key terms
- Graduate profile: the roles graduates are expected to perform in the workplace or society.
- CPL (Capaian Pembelajaran Lulusan, graduate learning outcomes): the abilities a study program's graduates must have.
- CPMK (Capaian Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah, course learning outcomes): the abilities achieved in a single course to support the CPL.
- Sub-CPMK: a breakdown of a CPMK by stage or meeting.
How CPL, CPMK, and grades connect
Every course is mapped to the CPL it supports. Assessments (assignments, quizzes, exams) are linked to CPMK, so grades can be traced back to outcomes. This lets a study program see which CPL are strong and which are weak, and then improve the curriculum.
The role of the SIAKAD
- Stores graduate profiles, CPL, and CPMK as structured data.
- Maps courses to CPL.
- Links assessment components to CPMK.
- Displays graduate outcome attainment for evaluation and accreditation.
