How to Choose a SIAKAD for Your Campus: 12 Criteria You Must Check

By the Kampusin Team, PT Creative Digitech Indonesia · · 7 min read

Choosing a SIAKAD determines your campus's efficiency for years. Use these 12 criteria as a checklist before you decide.

Start from your needs, not from features

Before comparing products, first write down your campus's academic processes: how new students are admitted, how KRS and grades work, who approves what, and which reports are requested regularly. This list becomes a fair yardstick for every candidate.

12 criteria to check

  • Module coverage: are admissions, academics, finance, e-learning, HR, and quality already integrated, or must they be bought separately?
  • One database: do all modules read the same data without synchronization?
  • Neo Feeder PDDikti integration: data readiness, validation, and reporting.
  • SISTER integration for lecturer data, workload (BKD), and performance.
  • Support for study levels and institution types: D3 through S3 (diploma to doctoral), universities to polytechnics.
  • Rule flexibility: credit limits, graduation requirements, and fees can be changed by the admin without a developer.
  • Role-based access and unit scope (faculty or study program).
  • Data security: encryption, audit logs, and personal data protection.
  • Ease of use: can students and lecturers use it without lengthy training?
  • Guides and SOPs: documents available to train users.
  • Implementation support and assistance, including data migration from the old system.
  • Cost clarity: licensing model, implementation fees, and further development costs.

Ask for a demo with your own scenarios

A good demo does not use tidy sample data. Ask the provider to act out your campus's real scenarios: a student on leave who submits a KRS, an overdue invoice, or incomplete data during Neo Feeder reporting.

Ask about the things that are often overlooked

  • How is data moved from the old system, and who is responsible for its quality?
  • What happens when regulations change, for example study time limits or graduation requirements?
  • Who owns the data, and how can you export it if you stop using the product?
  • How are backup and data recovery handled?
